About Us

It All Started With a Vision…

KOPPS (Kids Opportunities 2 Succeed – Family Education Sports) was born from personal experience and a deep belief in the transformative power of sports. Backed by research and real-life success stories, we recognize that youth who participate in structured, holistic athletic programs are more likely to thrive — not only on the field, but in life.

Studies consistently show that student-athletes, especially those from under-resourced communities, develop key skills that set them apart: discipline, respect, resilience, leadership, teamwork, and accountability. At KOPPS, we don’t just coach sports — we shape character.

Our vision goes beyond the game. We’ve designed a comprehensive youth development program that includes education, mentorship, and support for single parents. We are deeply committed to building strong family and community connections, removing barriers for families facing economic challenges, and creating safe, empowering spaces for kids to grow and belong.

Our Holistic Approach

KOPPS is rooted in the Positive Youth Development (PYD) model, which focuses on nurturing the physical, emotional, and social well-being of young people. Through intentionally structured sports activities, mentoring, and family-centered programming, we help youth build transferable life skills that extend far beyond the field — into school, home, and future careers.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background. Our mission is to be the springboard that helps them rise.

Our Values

Family

We want to create a family environment we want this to be the best experience for all of the children.

Sportsmanship

Everyone is to be treated with respect and dignity. We want parents to enjoy their child with out arguing.  Support teammates by saying "good shot" or "good try." Never criticize a teammate for trying. Accept calls and do not argue with officials. Treat the other team with respect and never tease or bully. Follow the rules of the game.

Accessibility

Unlike many other programs, we don’t base participation on income — and families shouldn’t have to travel 30+ miles just for their child to play a sport. Every child deserves access to opportunities close to home.
